MOTOGP - Marco Simoncelli Crash Dead R.I.P

Moto GP race in Malaysia was interrupted after Marco Simoncelli crashed and then been hit. The 24-year-old Italian lost his helmet and remained lying on the asphalt in front of shocked onlookers. Såhär kan det gå om du bryter armen på Haiti!

This guy walked up to us as we were walking along the beach in Haiti and said 'My arm hurts...can you take a look at it?' Assuming something minor, I was shocked to see that his upper arm had a complete fracture of the humerous about halfway down...and it had been untreated for 2 years. After a year, the incredible pain kind of went away and he still has use of the arm because the muscles have grown to hold the arm together. Moving his arm, which was painless to him, made my knees turn to jelly. It isn't right that this has gone on for 2 years and hasn't been treated because he has no money and no access to care. We are no longer in Haiti (this happened almost on the last day) but we have his contact info and are trying to arrange someone in Haiti to do the surgery to put his arm back together (before his brachial artery gets severed by the freely moving broken bone). This is what it means to have no access to care...that this can go on for over 2 years. I can't imagine what the first year was like.

Up Close and Personal with a Killer When I was finally admitted into the bowels of Trenton State Prison in New Jersey's capital to interview multiple murderer Richard Kuklinski, a.k.a. "the Iceman," it wasn't at all what I had expected. My assumption was that it would be like the movies. We'd be separated by a shatter-proof glass barrier. We'd communicate through telephone handsets. There would be guards all around watching our every move. But I couldn't have been more wrong. Clarice Starling had more protection when she visited Dr. Hannibal "the Cannibal" Lector in The Silence of the Lambs. At least she had bars. And frankly, as a killer, Lector was downright crude compared to the stealth and skullduggery of the Iceman. Lector liked to bite; Kuklinski preferred a cyanide solution administered from a nasal spray bottle. A surprise spritz to the face usually produced a shocked inhalation from the victim, who as a result would die in under a minute. And unless the body was found right away and a savvy medical examiner knew what to look for, the poison would go undetected because cyanide naturally dissipates in the body after two hours. But cyanide was only one of the things I was thinking about on the morning of January 16, 1992, when I arrived for my date with the Iceman.
