Real Madrid vs Barcelona preview: The end of a hegemony? [2012/2011 HD] Real Madrid and Barcelona will clash this Saturday, for the first time in La Liga this season. Real Madrid currently leads the Spanish League table, with 1 game less disputed and a 3 points gap from Barcelona. If the Merengues manage to pull off a victory from the "Clasico", the title race may very well turn out to be a 1-way ride until the end. The "El Clasico" is right around the corner, as Real Madrid and Barcelona bump into each other this Saturday (December 10), in a "La Liga" fixture. Could we finally be on the verge of Barcelona's hegemony end? The "Merengues" haven't won a single game against Barcelona in the Spanish League, since May 2008 (4-1 win), in a total of 5 losses and 1 draw. However and for the first time in recent years, Real Madrid steps up to this match as slightly favorite, according to several football betting companies and sports bookie experts. The game will certainly be an exciting and thrilling one, as it has been an appanage of all the recent "Clasicos", but Pep Guardiola's men can't afford to lose this battle, otherwise they will risk seeing the gap to Madrid being extended to a 6 points margin, with still 1 game less disputed. If José Mourinho finds himself on top with a 9 points lead, then not even a Barcelona dream team will probably be able to catch up the Merengues. Real Madrid, who is currently in a 15-game winning streak (10 in "La Liga"), will host Barcelona in the best possible moment. In the other hand, the Blaugrana dropped 5 points in their last 5 matches for the Spanish League, after drawing 2-2 against Athletic Bilbao in San Mamés and losing 1-0 to Getafe, in the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez. Real Madrid seized that opportunity to takeoff and José Mourinho is certainly more than aware of the importance of such lead advantage. After this Saturday's "Clasico", Real Madrid next fixture in "La Liga" will be against Sevilla, in the "Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán" (17th December) and it could turn out to be crucial not conceding a loss to Barcelona, in the week before. Cristiano Ronaldo has been spared from the UEFA Champions League fixture this Wednesday, against Ajax, and it should be safe to say he'll be a starter against Barcelona on Saturday. The Portuguese player will be eager to improve his goalscoring stats, as he already counts with 17 goals in "La Liga" 2011/2012 and is actually tied with the Argentinian Lionel Messi.Real Madrid starting line-up against Barcelona won't be very easy to predict, since there are a few regular choices who are still recovering from injuries and José Mourinho tactical choices could easily provide last minute surprises. While Iker Casillas will certainly be on the goal line, the defensive line could suffer a few changes. The Brazilian left-back, Marcelo, has been struggling with a few minor injuries and if he doesn't get fit before Saturday, he'll probably be replaced by the Portuguese player, Fábio Coentrão. In the center of the defense, Pepe should line-up with Sergio Ramos, but the right-back spot is also prone to raise some questions, even though Arbeloa should have his place secured after performing well against Ajax. In the other hand, Lass Diarra could actually lack the required experience to play on that position against such a challenging opponent as it is Barcelona, but he might be a valid option for the midfield, if Mourinho decides to strengthen his team against Barça's "tiki-taka".

My mate has done a video for me, subscribe him! http://www.youtube.com/user/9CRonaldo7HD Figo: "It's not fair to compare Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi" The former Portuguese player, Luís Figo, talked with an Italian media press earlier this week and besides approaching topics related to his new life outside the pitch, he also had a few remarks about his fellow countryman, Cristiano Ronaldo. One of the biggest legends of Portuguese football, Luís Figo, granted an interview to "FCInterNews.it", where he not only talked about how his life changed after ending his career on the pitches, but also commented on how the rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi should be looked upon. Luís Figo asked for people to stop comparing the two players and to simply admire their tremendous qualities, distinctly. Figo's illustrious career in football, includes passages in clubs such as FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan, so the Portuguese is definately a well credited person to talk about Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Figo started by affirming that the best Portuguese player remains being Eusébio, replying to the journalist when he asked him to choose between him and Cristiano Ronaldo. He then proceeded and praised Ronaldo and Messi. Figo: "Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi are two completely different players, starting with their personalities, the clubs where they play at and the way they choose to deal with the media. It's not fair to attempt to compare them. I love to watch them playing, why should people feel tempted and insist in making comparisons between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo? It's like you're having two things you like to eat in front of you and you decide to just taste one of them, when you could have gone for both." The Portuguese player then talked about the timing of his decision to retire from being a professional football player. Figo: "I certainly remember my last game and I didn't take that decision impulsively or carelessly. It was something on which I thoughted a lot about, so it wasn't something I decided from one day to another. I knew that I had lost my physical levels, as well as I was losing that typical motivation we have when we are younger. It was the right time and I just said to myself that it was time to hang the boots up." Figo is now studying in IESE Business School, University of Navarra, since one os his passions is to manage businesses in different areas such as real estate, hotels, bars and tourism. Moreover, the Portuguese has also started a social media platform project in 2009, to allow young kinds who have the dream of becoming of a professional football player, to send their videos and films and show what their skils and what they can do. Figo: "Every month we pick a winner among all the candidates. We obviously have several agreements with football clubs, that watch the videos we receive and are willing to invite them for trials in their academies."Since I have been receiving several e-mails in the last months, from people asking for help to join a professional football club, I've researched a bit and I found the link for this Figo's website initiative. You can send your videos over there and hope that Figo and his staff will appreciate your skills and get in touch with you. This foundation/website is called "DreamFootball" and you can access their website at www.dreamfootball.com. Good luck and if you turn out to be the next Cristiano Ronaldo in a few years, don't forget us :) Real Madrid will play against Espanyol in La Liga, this Sunday (02/10/2011). You can watch Espanyol vs Real Madrid stream, in our Football Live Streams section. Cristiano Ronaldo will be on the line-up.

facebook.com/williamofotboll Real Madrid outclassed Ajax tonight in the Santiago Bernabéu, after beating the Dutch side by 3-0. Cristiano Ronaldo added another goal to his tally, but it was Kaká who delighted the crowd with a nostalgic performance. Real Madrid confirmed expectations as they defeated Ajax tonight by 3-0, in the Santiago Bernabéu. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of the season in the UEFA Champions League and his 9th when accounting all competitions. However, the MVP of the night has to be granted to Kaká, who had one of those nostalgic performances, that make people remember the times when the Brazilian got awarded the FIFA World Player of the Year trophy (2007). Helped by a great performance from Kaká and Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid didn't face many difficulties to beat Ajax tonight. The Brazilian scored one goal and assisted for another, while Ronaldo managed to score his first goal of this UEFA Champions League edition. Real Madrid now counts with 2 wins out of 2 matches and is on the right tracks to get an early ticket for the last 16 stage. Real Madrid started the game with typical 4-2-3-1, where Xabi Alonso and Khedira were the ones responsible for conducting and dictating the team's tempo. Mesut Ozil had orders to play by the sideline, while Kaká had more of a free role, in order to allow the Brazilian to combine well with his teammates wherever he could find spaces. However, Ajax strategy somehow blocked Real Madrid intents in the early periods of the game, as the Dutch side managed to keep their net far from danger and was still able to threat Casillas, with fast counter attacks by the sidelines. It's not by chance that many regard Real Madrid as the best team in the World when playing in counter-attack. It was around the 25th minute that the Merengues showed how to combine and finish a beautiful and fast play, with Kaká, Ozil, Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema being the main actors of this first masterpiece. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the first goal of the night, as well as the first of his tally, if accounting only for this year's UEFA Champions League edition. Ajax started to give more spaces in forbidden areas and Real Madrid would still manage to score a second goal before the half-time, in a good combination between Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaká. The Brazilian found a good spot, tried his left-foot shot and made the 2-0 just before the break. The second half would start with Real Madrid trying to slow down things, in order to control the outcome of this match. Even though the game was being played more slowly, the Merengues would add another to their lead, after a good combination between Arbeloa and Kaká, allowing the Brazilian to assist Benzema for an easy tap-in. The game wouldn't suffer any major changes from that point on, but as a negative note, Benzema was forced to leave the game after picking up an injury and Cristiano Ronaldo was also seen in pain close to the end. www.facebook.com/williamofotboll Real Madrid 6-2 Rayo Vallecano. Cristiano Ronaldo returns to goals with a hat-trick Real Madrid desperately needed a win against Rayo Vallecano and with a new hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo, the Merengues crashed their opponents with a 6-2 win. Mourinho men were forced to play with 10 men for more than half an hour, after Di María got sent off. Cristiano Ronaldo ended his anxiety hunger for goals tonight, after having scored a new hat-trick in the 6-2 win that Real Madrid imposed to Rayo Vallecano. Ronaldo is now 2nd in La Liga's Pichichi run, with 7 goals, but the game only turned out to be easy during the 2nd half, when Real Madrid was already on the lead. Higuaín, Varane and Benzema scored the other goals of this game, but it was Kaká and CR7 who delighted the crowd with very good performances.Rayo Vallecano scored a surprising opener goal, with just a few seconds played in the first half. It all started with Lassana Diarra failing a pass in a forbiden zone and a fast counter attack driven by the experienced Raúl Tamudo, who attempted to score from outside the area. Casillas stopped the first shot, but allowed a rebound just a few meters in front of him, which Michu took advantage to make it 0-1 in the Bernabéu. The game had started the worst possible way and Real Madrid was forced to quickly react to avoid a third negative result in a row. With half an hour played, José Mourinho decided to take some risks and replaced Lassana Diarra with Mesut Ozil, leaving the defensive tasks almost exclusively for Xabi Alonso. Real Madrid managed to push forward and Cristiano Ronaldo would tie the match around the 39th minute, in a fast counter attack play, where he got assisted by Kaká. Ronaldo left-kick shot would pass between the legs of Rayo Vallecano's goalkeeper, Dani and things were leveled up once more. Real Madrid became more edgy and determined after CR7's goal and would take the lead close to the half time, after a free-kick taken by Xabi Alonso, surgically directed to Sergio Ramos head, who in turn assisted Gonzalo Higuaín for an easy tap-in finish. The 2nd half was promising an open game and the possibility of appearing many goal scoring chances was in everyone's mind. Those expectations were not defrauded and Kaká soon showed he still has in him what it takes to be one of the best in the World, as he dribbled several opponents before being tackled inside the penalty box. Cristiano Ronaldo took it and easily made the 3-1. However, Rayo Vallecano would reduce the score in the 55th minute, after a Real Madrid distraction in a defensive corner kick, allowing Michu to make his second of the night, shortening the Merengues lead to 3-2. Just one minute later, Angel Di María deflected a pass with his hand and got shown his second yellow card of the match, being sent off as a result of that action. Real Madrid was then forced to play with 10 men for more than half an hour, but the Merengues managed to extend the lead later on, first from a corner with Varane finishing with a nice touch. Around the 73th minute, Benzema would score the 5th goal of his team, after a good play and assist from Ozil. The game rushed to its end and close to the 84th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo dribled Rayo Vallecano's goalkeeper and got tripped inside the penalty box. The Portuguese would take his second penalty kick of the night and as usual, he didn't miss and made his hat-trick, setting the final result as 6-2. Real Madrid line-up vs Rayo Vallecano: Casillas; Marcelo, Varane, Raúl Albiol, S. Ramos; Xabi Alonso, Lass Diarra, Kaká; Angel Di María, Cristiano Ronaldo and Higuaín.

facebook.com/williamofotboll Levante 1-0 Real Madrid. Half Ronaldo wasn't enough to avoid the loss Real Madrid got defeated for the first time this season, after losing by 1-0 against Levante, this Sunday night. Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't completely recovered from his ankle injury, so Mourinho decided to only put CR7 playing in the 2nd half. Levante managed to impose Real Madrid their first loss in the 2011-12 season, after beating the Merengues by 1-0. The game's turning point, took place still in the 1st half, when the referee decided to show the red card to Khedira, sending off the German and leaving Real Madrid forced to play with 10 men until the end of the match. Cristiano Ronaldo got stiched on his ankle on last Wednesday and is still far from his best condition, but nonetheless, Mourinho allowed CR7 to step up in the 2nd half. Levante players had left several warnings during this week, that they were not going to be soft in this game. Those who who might have been skeptical about those words, early realised they were being serious about it, as Levante showed very high aggressiveness levels during the entire game. The match started with a very controversial play, when Benzema managed to score for Real Madrid, but immediatly saw his goal being disallowed for a pretense foul in Levante's goalkeeper. Real Madrid was not playing brilliantly, but was still managing to create several good goalscoring chances. Benzema, Kaká and Di María were very close to score in several occasions, but the Merengues were lacking that "killer instinct" they usually have, when Cristiano Ronaldo is on the pitch, and they've failed a lot of good opportunities to take the lead. The turning point in this game happened near the 41th minute, just after a big confusion started by Levante players, on which several players started pushing each other. As usual, those who are more artful and tricky try to provoke a yellow card in opponent players who already have a yellow card and that's exactly what Levante managed to do in this situation. The slightest pushing and a Levante player started rolling on the floor, as if he got hit by a sniper. The referee rushed to the spot to show Khedira his second yellow card in the game, sending him off and leaving Real Madrid with the task to play with 10 men for the rest of the match. The game would never be the same from that point further. Cristiano Ronaldo jumped from the bench at halftime and got to the line-up in the 2nd half. However, it was obvious that the Portuguese player was playing very limited due the recent ankle injury he picked earlier this week. We all know how competitive Ronaldo can be, so he probably insisted in giving his contribution on this match, even if he wasn't close to his best condition. Real Madrid had a very hard task, playing with 10 men, against a side who was disputing every play as if it was the most important of their careers. Real Madrid tried to push forward replacing Benzema for Cristiano Ronaldo right from the start of the 2nd half, and later on Kaká for Higuaín and Marcelo for Ozil, but it was Levante who turned out to take advantage of the spaces the Merengues were leaving empty on their defense. Around the 68th minute, Koné easily finished a fast counter-attack play, leaving no chances for Casillas to react to his strong shot. What appeared to be a hard task, had just become almost an impossible one. Real Madrid battled but they were never finding enough spaces to threaten Levante's goal, as they managed to do in the first half when it was still 11 against 11. Real Madrid line-up vs Levante: Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Carvalho, Marcelo, Xabi Alonso, Khedira, Di Maria, Kaka, Fábio Coentrão and Karim Benzema

Real Madrid 4-2 Getafe. The Blancos take La Liga lead Real Madrid defeated Getafe by 4-2 in the Santiago Bernabéu, but the game wasn't as easy as the final score might imply. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 4th goal in La Liga and assisted magnificently Karim Benzema, who scored 2 goals. Higuain scored the final goal in this Real Madrid win. Second game in La Liga and another victory for Real Madrid, who this time defeated Getafe in the Santiago Bernabéu, by 4-2. Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema (2) and Higuain scored the goals, but the Merengues didn't have their best night. Real Madrid are now the leaders of La Liga, taking advantage of Barcelona's slip against Real Sociedad, a 2-2 draw. Even though tonight's match had a total of 6 goals, the game was played at a slow pace for most of its period. Real Madrid couldn't hold the ball possession with the quality that we became accustomed to see when this team plays and there were many goal scoring chances created out of errors, bad passing and low aggressiveness, specially from the midfielders. As a clear sign of an exaggerated passivity during the 1st half, we could simply look at Cristiano Ronaldo number of shots (2), who was well below of his standards. Even playing slowly, Real Madrid managed to take the lead, after a good combination of passes between Di Maria and Ozil, who assisted Benzema for the French man to put the ball on the back of the net. However, this was a sort of rare play during the first 45 minutes, and Getafe would manage to even the score close to the 40th minute, from a sloppy play ending in a rebound to Miku, who beat Casillas to put the score in 1-1 at half-time. Some fans were expecting a tottally different second half, but the truth is, nothing much changed. Real Madrid didn't push too much forward and the game wasn't prone in fast passing, as the Merengues usualy do. One of the highlights of the night was a superb bycicle kick from Cristiano Ronaldo, who hit the post and rebounded to Fábio Coentrão, who had a shocking miss just near the goal line. Around the 60th minute, the referee pointed to the penalty spot, after a doubtful tackle in the limit of the area, suffered by Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese would take the responsability of taking the penalty kick and as usual, he didn't miss and restored Real Madrid by setting it to 2-1. However, Cristiano Ronaldo best moment in this game would take place in the 70th minute, in a tremendous left foot low assist to Benzema, crossing the ball from one side of the pitch to the other, leaving Benzema with the solo task of tapping the ball in. What a way Cristiano Ronaldo has to demonstrate his game awareness and solidarity with his teammates keeps improving year after year! After the 3-1, few were the ones who still believed this game could have a different story, but that was probably also true for Barcelona's match earlier today, and the Blaugrana ended by losing a 2 goals lead, conceding a draw against Real Sociedad. Around the 74th minute, Getafe managed to reduce the lead to 3-2 and put Real Madrid in alert once more, after another goal by the Venezuelan player, Miku. However, José Mourinho's team managed to keep their area clear of danger in the following minutes and Higuain even took a chance to restore the 2 goals lead, by finishing a good individual play and putting the final score in 4-2.Real Madrid line-up vs Getafe: Casillas; Marcelo, Ricardo Carvalho, Pepe, Sergio Ramos; Xabi Alonso, Fábio Coentrão, Ozil; Di María, Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema

Cristiano Ronaldo Vs Philadelphia Union Away 2011-07-23 Philadelphia Union 1-2 Real Madrid. Ozil and Callejón leave their mark Gol de Özil Goal de Özil Gol de Callejón Goal de Callejón Real Madrid finished their United States tour with another win (1-2), this time against Philadelphia Union. The Merengues played in Philadelphia against the local team and added a third victory in three games. Cristiano Ronaldo played only in the 2nd half, but couldn't score in this match. CR7 finishes the first round of this pre-season already having remarkable stats, as he scored 4 goals out of 3 matches. Real Madrid played their last match in the United States, as well as they finished their participation in the World Football Challenge. José Mourinho man defeated Philadelphia Union by 1-2 and didn't got much trouble to control and dominate the game. The goals arrived early, as Callejón (2th minute) and Mesut Ozil (11th minute) gave Real Madrid the lead. Later on, with Cristiano Ronaldo already on the field, Philadelphia scored their only goal by M. Farfán, from a truly great lob, leaving no chances to Real Madrid's goalkeeper. The American side proved to be several levels behind Real Madrid and the first half was prone to plenty of mistakes by Philadelphia's defense. From those errors, Real Madrid not only capitalized but also showed some good football on the field. José Mourinho rotated the team intensively, in order to prevent players to get over-fatigued after a first week of very hard work and physical demanding. Right on the second half, José Mourinho started by trying some new things, by putting Pepe and Fábio Coentrão side-by-side on the midfield. That is, a left-back and a center defender assuming the role in a neuralgic position on the field. They are both very versatile, but I still think Real Madrid won't win much from them, by placing these players as organizers. Anyway, this is just a "fallback" solution, since Nuri Sahin (who is still injured for a couple more weeks) is expected to have an important role throughout the season, as well as Khedira who remains unavailable to help his team. Cristiano Ronaldo didn't score another hat-trick last night, but at least he didn't stop himself from trying. After joining the team just after the break, CR7 created two chances for scoring around the 57th and 63th minute, but unfortunately he couldn't add another goal to his tally this time. Close to the end of the game (86th minute), Ronaldo had the chance to try his world famous free kick, but his shot got stopped by a 19 years old Philadelphia's Union goalkeeper and the game would simply rush to its end after that. Real Madrid line-up against Philadelphia Union: Iker Casillas; Arbeloa, Varane, Ricardo Carvalho and Casado; Granero and Xabi Alonso; Callejón, Özil and Jese; Karim Benzema After playing their last match in the United States, Real Madrid will now go up against Hertha Berlin. The match will be played in Berlin, on the 27th of July at 6PM (local time). José Mourinho will probably play with a strong team on the line-up, meaning that Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to start the game in the first eleven.

Chivas 0-3 Real Madrid. Ronaldo scores a sensational hat-trick Real Madrid is still warming up, but from what we could watch over the last days, José Mourinho's men are already in great shape. Cristiano Ronaldo left his mark in last night match, scoring an impressive hat-trick, which allowed Real Madrid to beat Chivas Guadalajara by 3-0. Real Madrid added a second win to their pre-season record, after beating Chivas Guadalajara by 3-0, last night in San Diego. Man of the match was without any doubts Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored an hat-trick and already has 4 goals in 2 matches in this 2011-2012 pre-season tour. However, the game wasn't that easy as the final score could imply or suggest. The Mexican side was definately a tougher nut to crack, when compared to the previous Real Madrid opponent, L.A. Galaxy. Chivas presented a very high competitive aggressiveness, a bit unusual to see in friendly matches, putting Real Madrid against the ropes in a few moments of the game. Another pleasant surprise from last night match was Fábio Coentrão's great performance as center midfielder. The Portuguese player replaced Xabi Alonso, who was said to be a starter in this match, but ended up by complaining about pains on his back and decided not to risk his condition. Fábio Coentrão is showing the Spanish press how versatile he is, and how good of an investment he'll end up being, even with the price tag of 30 million euros. The Portuguese player plays at his best as a left-back, but he also fits very well when playing as a winger and more recently as a center midfielder, giving a different dynamic to the team when he gets the ball on his feet. Cristiano Ronaldo commented about the newcomers in Real Madrid and confessed how impressed he is so far.Cristiano Ronaldo: "The rookies are really surprising me. They are working tremendously well." CR7 scored his hat-trick in only 10 minutes during the second half, but that wasn't enough to impress the Portuguese star. "Three goals in 10 minutes? That's ok... But we have to keep working in order to be well prepared for the beginning of the season. This game has proved to be a good test and I'm happy because we won it.", said Ronaldo, moments after the game against Chivas.

L.A. Galaxy Vs Real Madrid (1-4) All Goals Match Highlights 16/07/2011 Friendly Match We can just start by saying this Real Madrid team for 2011-2012 promises a lot for the "Madridismo", after an easy win by 1-4 against L.A. Galaxy. In a match facing an American side who are already in an advanced stage of their season, Real Madrid decided to deliver a great performance to all the fans that showed up in Los Angeles, United States.
